The review runs your three most recent available Dashboard years across five academic indicators: ELA, Math, Science, English Learner Progress, and College/Career. Each indicator goes through up to three steps and is met at the first one it passes. The mechanics reflect written clarifications from the LAUSD Charter Schools Division (July and October 2026) and its published renewal reports.

Step 1, your data vs. the state. In each year, we tally the numerically significant student groups (30 or more students, a Dashboard color) higher vs lower than the state; groups matching it exactly sit out. More higher than lower passes the year. On an exact tie, including when a school has no significant subgroups, the All Students result decides. An indicator passes when a majority (strictly more than half) of its available years pass. Years without data are left out of the math, never counted as a fail.

Step 2, your verified data. ELA and Math only, from the State Board's list of approved assessments (AB 126 put verified data back in the renewal law through June 30, 2028). A year counts when at least 95% of students participated: students with a growth score divided by the CDE Stability Count for that year (students enrolled the full year), for All Students only. A year passes when All Students met the vendor's benchmark and a majority of the student groups you entered met it too. The subject passes in a majority of its counted years.

Step 3, your data vs. your comparison schools. The same group, year and indicator rules as Step 1, against the Comparison Schools Median: for each student group, the median of that group's numerically significant results across your comparison schools. LAUSD uses the schools your students would otherwise attend (its Resident Schools Median); schools with other authorizers often choose similar schools instead.

The result. An indicator met at Step 1 is not tested again, and the same for Step 2; every step is still shown so you can see the full picture. The review clears when a majority (strictly more than half) of applicable indicators are met, in any combination of steps. Exactly half is not a majority: LAUSD policy applies additional analysis and a holistic evaluation there, so the review labels that split rather than calling it a fail.

ELPI note: only English Learners take the ELPAC, so ELPI's All Students row is its EL row. In practice the ELPI outcome follows the EL result: an EL and Long-Term EL split resolves in the EL direction, because EL is also the tie-breaker.

Authorizers weigh data in their own ways and retain discretion. Treat this review as one way to understand and explain your position, never as a prediction of a renewal decision.
